Reflection:
Sometimes, all we need is someone who sees our pain, someone who doesn’t try to explain it away but quietly chooses to stay. That is who Jesus is.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus withdraws in grief after hearing about John the Baptist’s death. But even in His sorrow, He sees the crowd, and His heart is moved. He doesn’t turn them away. He feeds them. He heals them. He listens.
Compassion—not power—was the engine of His ministry. He didn’t perform miracles to impress. He did it because He couldn’t stand to see people suffer.
This is not just a story from centuries ago. It’s a window into the heart of God right now. You are not a burden to Him. You are not invisible. Your tiredness, your financial struggles, your secret anxieties, your hunger—He sees them all.
Just as Moses groaned in today’s first reading, saying, “I cannot carry this people alone,” many of us feel overwhelmed by what we carry: family demands, health concerns, loneliness, pressure to succeed. But you are not alone. God’s heart breaks with yours.
Call on Him today. Not with perfect words, but with honest need. Sit quietly and say: “Jesus, I’m tired. Help me.” That prayer is enough.
He doesn’t promise instant answers. But He promises presence. And from His hands, even the little you have can become enough.
